Why a Carrier Website Still Helps After You Claim Motus

Motus proves you exist in FMCSA systems. A website proves you are easy to book. How brokers actually Google USDOT and MC — and what a $274 Starter site is for.

Claiming Motus is necessary compliance work. It is not a marketing campaign. Brokers who board you still open a search window, type your DOT or company name, and decide in seconds whether you look reachable. A carrier website is how you control that moment. Motus Website builds those pages. We are not affiliated with FMCSA, and Motus does not require the site.

What Motus does not put on Google

Motus stores authenticated registration data. Public research tools — SAFER, census extracts, commercial directories — show a subset of that story: legal name, USDOT, sometimes MC, addresses, equipment counts, operation type. They do not show a dispatcher who answers, a photo of the trailer you actually pull, or a form that emails you the same minute a broker is on a clock.

That gap is why a successful Motus claim can still feel unfinished. You proved control of the record. You did not prove you are easy to do business with.

How brokers actually search

A typical boarding pass is not a Motus login on your account. It is: USDOT on the packet, SAFER snapshot, insurance, maybe a directory row, then a Google of the company name because something looked thin. Cargo theft and double-brokering made that extra search a habit, not a nicety.

If Google returns a stale Facebook page, a disconnected phone, or nothing but a government line, careful brokers delay. Delay is how loads go to the carrier whose page loaded in two seconds with a tap-to-call button.

What a useful carrier site actually contains

Authority identifiers that match Motus/MCS-150: legal name, DBA, USDOT, MC. A phone a human answers. Equipment you actually run. Lanes you actually want. A load or contact form. Plain language — not government cosplay, not fake seals, not a clone of motus.dot.gov.

Consistency is the trust trick. If MCS-150 says one power unit and the homepage says nationwide fleet, a careful counterparty will notice. Fix filings on Motus first when the record is wrong; then publish the matching story.

  • Starter ($274): five-page site, badges, click-to-call, load form, year-1 hosting
  • Growth ($597): fleet, lanes, insurance storytelling
  • Authority ($1,197): brand system, quote flow, Motus-aware SEO pages

Why this is not a Motus requirement

We repeat this because searchers arrive anxious: FMCSA does not require a business website to use Motus. You will not lose authority for lacking a marketing page. Buying a site to 'complete Motus' is a category error.

Buy a site because you want inbound calls. That is the commercial thesis of Motus Website. Official Motus remains https://motus.dot.gov. Lookups live on Motus Directory. This site sells the owned destination.

Timing: after claim, not instead of claim

You can draft copy and shoot equipment while identity proofing is pending. Do not publish authority claims you cannot support. Once Motus is claimed and identifiers are correct, launch is a few business days on Starter — typically 5–7 after intake.

Search your own DOT in an incognito window the evening after you claim. Whatever ranks is your brief. If it is thin, that is the $274 conversation — not a second Motus ticket.

What we will not do

We will not take Motus or Login.gov passwords. We will not file MCS-150. We will not impersonate FMCSA chrome on your site. Intake is public business details. Call +1 682 978 8641 or use contact if you want scoping; anyone asking for one-time codes is not us.

FAQ

Does a website help me claim Motus?
No. A website does not complete identity proofing or link your USDOT. It helps after (and beside) compliance, when brokers search you.
Is Starter enough for an owner-operator?
For many, yes: authority badges, mobile call button, and a load form. Upgrade to Growth when lanes and fleet photos deserve their own pages.
Will you make my site look like Motus?
No. Never imitate government chrome. We present your authority clearly and link filings to motus.dot.gov.
Where should people look up other carriers?
Motus Directory or SAFER and primary FMCSA tools — not a marketing homepage pretending to be a government database.
