Ask whether the supplier or the buyer is writing.

A supplier who wants a limit on a buyer, and a buyer who wants terms from a supplier, are not the same writer. The form has to ask which one is at the keyboard before it asks anything about a limit. suppliers@ is the supplier. buyers@ is the buyer. credit@ is a file the desk already opened. Motus does not quote the limit, and it does not decide which side is telling the truth.

The keyboard has to declare a side

A supplier writing about a buyer is asking whether a limit can even be discussed on that account. They know the buyer's name and they want a ceiling. A buyer writing about a supplier is asking for terms, which is a request to be the account, not to police it. If the form hides that difference, each side fills the other's fields and the limit conversation starts from a lie about who is exposed.

suppliers@ should ask for the supplier's company and the buyer they are worried about, in that order. buyers@ should ask for the buyer's company and the supplier they hope will extend terms. Neither form asks the visitor to type the limit they want as if typing it reserved it. credit@ is for a file number that already exists, where a clerk needs a document, not a new theory of the relationship.

A limit is discussed later, if at all

The number a supplier wants and the number a buyer hopes are both wishes. Printing either wish, or a third number the page invented, is quoting a limit. Motus will not quote one, not as a ceiling, a sample, or a starting point. The firm may discuss a limit after it knows which side wrote and after credit@ or the right intake box has the names. Until then the page talks about process, not about a figure.

Say what information is not a limit. Trade references, a buyer's years in operation, a supplier's terms sheet: those can be named as things the firm might ask for, if the firm really asks for them. They are not a score. Do not multiply years by a dollar factor and call it capacity. That trick is a limit quote with extra steps. Leave the arithmetic in the firm's office.

Credit files are not new introductions

credit@ earns its place when a relationship already has a file number. The writer is chasing a missing reference, a buyer name spelling, or a document the desk requested. That note should not reopen the question of which side is writing, and it should not invite a fresh limit wish. If everything in your shop is new business, say so and do not publish credit@ as decoration. An unused address looks like a department you do not have.

The public close is a routing promise only. The supplier writes suppliers@. The buyer writes buyers@. The open file writes credit@. Motus does not set a limit, insure the receivable, or tell a supplier the buyer is safe. Safe is a decision. Decisions stay off the marketing page. The firm reads the correct door and proceeds under whatever authority it already has. We do not confer that authority by designing the form.

Growth fits a trade-credit desk that must ask which side is writing before any limit is discussed, with suppliers@ and buyers@ labeled as different people.

Motus is not a lender. We do not quote an APR, promise approval, or take an application.

Questions

Why must a trade credit form ask who is writing?
Because a supplier who wants a limit on a buyer is not the buyer asking for terms. Shared fields start the limit talk from the wrong exposure. suppliers@ and buyers@ keep the sides apart. Typing a wished-for number does not reserve it.
Does Motus quote a trade credit limit for the supplier?
No. A ceiling, a sample, or a starting point would still be a quote. The studio will not multiply years by dollars and call it capacity. The firm may discuss a figure only after it knows which side wrote.
When should an existing trade file use credit@ instead of a new door?
When a file number already exists and the writer needs a missing reference or a spelling, not a new theory of the relationship. If every matter is new, do not publish credit@ as a department you do not have.
Can the trade credit page tell a supplier the buyer is safe?
No. Safe is a decision, and decisions stay off this screen. Motus does not set a limit or insure the receivable. The firm reads the correct door under the authority it already has. Designing the form does not confer that authority.
